Wednesday. June 25th

Today we laid my best friend, the love of my life to rest. The pain is over for her. I shall have a great emptyness. I am fortunate to have the two daughters I do. Kathy taught them well.
The service at Christ Chuch Catedral was incredible, fit for royalty. Kathy clearly had an impact on many in her far too short time serving the people at CCC, in the Diocese of BC, and in Victoria. The girls and I were overwhelmed by the outpouring of praise for Kathy and the deep sorrow for her loss.
The stop in Campbell River was not what I expected. I should have known a simple opportunity to say goodbye would not do. It was wonderful. A history lesson I think best describes it. We have been in CR for 30 years and I believe all those years were represented. Our work. Our service. Our play. Many wonderful stories were told and many tears were shed.

I thank you all for your sharing your stories with us and for your expressions of sympathy.

thank you for this blog, Doug. It is a blessing. It was a great honour to be part of the service at CCC. And every word that has been said about Kathy was true.
all our love,

Doug you were right... Royalty couldn't have had a finer send off than what Kathy was given in Victoria and Wow.. the "little" family service in Campbell River was very impressive... I knew Kath was loved but wow... She was famous!... Your girls made me burst with pride just being their aunt.. You and Kath "raised them right".
Call when ever you want.. We'll be here for you.

I don't think you know how important this blog was for so many people, thank you all for taking the time to post regular updates when at times it was probably the last thing you wanted to do.
Kathy was a very special lady and I for one was blessed to have known her.
The service at CCC was absolutely fabulous and one that Kathy would have loved that is for sure. Thank you for including all of us it was a huge honor.
We are just down the road remember that.
Love and blessings to you and to the girls.

I was honoured to be part of Kathy's funeral, Doug. It was the only way I could say goodbye to her. She had such an impact on me - I shall never forget her.
